Douglas County Court Calendars Explained
Douglas County Superior Court posts its own Superior Court docket and calendar page. It groups PDF calendars by weekday and hearing block. Monday can hold juvenile preliminary matters and CCRJ preliminary or arraignment appearances. It also covers out-of-custody criminal cases and special sets. Tuesday brings pro se law and motion, protection orders, and afternoon law and motion. Some financial or paternity matters also appear. Wednesday through Friday carry the remaining juvenile, dependency, criminal, preliminary, and special-set blocks. That page covers Washington Superior Court matters in Waterville. Douglas County District Court keeps a separate calendar page for limited-jurisdiction cases. East Wenatchee Municipal Court handles its own city cases. The state directory routes Bridgeport, Rock Island, and Waterville municipal matters through District Court. Check the name on your citation, summons, or order. That tells you which Douglas County court calendar to use.
Douglas County Weekday Docket Grid
Why a grid? Douglas County calendars run as recurring blocks, not one master list. A label like Pro Se L&M points to a motion calendar. CCRJ prelim is a published county label for preliminary appearances. The county does not expand the abbreviation. Quote it exactly, and ask the clerk what it means in a specific case. Pick the right weekday and calendar category before you scan for a cause number. The county calendar page shows why.
The court's named calendar blocks lead to the PDFs holding current posted settings. A PDF is a snapshot, though, and no later change is a promise.
Finding Your Court Date
For a Douglas County court date search, bring the court name and full cause number. Online tools are only one link in the chain. The signed notice or order comes first, then direct court confirmation, the current case hearing record, the county PDF, and finally statewide search as a reference.
- Read the citation, summons, notice, or order. Note the court, cause number, date, and any appearance instructions.
- For Superior Court, use Odyssey Portal Smart Search or Search Hearings, then check the matching weekday PDF.
- For District or municipal cases, use Washington Courts Find My Court Date or Search Case Records. A Douglas District citation may also appear in its Tyler service.
- If online data is blank or conflicts, call the proper clerk. Superior Court is 509-745-9063, the Superior Clerk is 509-745-8529, District Court is 509-884-3536, and East Wenatchee Municipal Court is 509-884-0680.
- Check with counsel when represented. Confirm whether the Douglas County court date is in person or remote and which court-issued Zoom room applies.
The counter is another route. Superior Court and its Clerk sit at 203 S Rainier Street in Waterville. District Court is at 100 19th Street NW in East Wenatchee. East Wenatchee Municipal Court is at 271 9th Street NE. The county offers no public kiosk. Do not assume a terminal exists.
Douglas County Calendar Cutoffs
Douglas County posts most Superior Court calendars the day before the hearing. The deadline is 1:00 p.m. Preliminary-appearance calendars go up by 9:00 a.m. the same morning. Changes after those cutoffs never reach the PDF. That local timing rule explains a lot. An order, a call from court staff, or a fresh docket event can differ from a downloaded calendar.
Use the newest authority. A later signed order or direct court instruction takes priority over an older Douglas County calendar PDF.
The posted Douglas County calendar comes with a catch: the Clerk takes no blame if you miss a date because of it. Protect yourself by saving the cause number and jotting down when you checked the PDF. If two sources give conflicting court dates, call and sort it out. Special settings in Douglas County Superior Court go through the Court Administrator, at courtadministrator@co.douglas.wa.gov or 509-745-9063.
How to Read a Court Setting
A Douglas County calendar row describes an event. It is not the whole case. Read across the row, then open the docket in order. Criminal calendars may show status conference, omnibus, readiness, initial arraignment, sentencing, or a motion hearing. Civil entries may list trial setting, show cause, temporary orders, guardianship, or review. No label alone proves the final result.
| Date and time | The calendar date and start time for the listed block, which may cover several cases. |
|---|---|
| Cause No. | The Douglas County case identifier used to match the row to Odyssey or the court file. |
| Courtroom or Zoom | The physical room or court-issued remote room tied to that calendar. |
| Judge or commissioner | The judicial officer listed for the calendar block. |
| Hearing | The setting type, such as arraignment, readiness, review, law and motion, or sentencing. |
| Counsel, DPA, Note | Attorney, deputy prosecutor, and short administrative fields when the calendar uses them. |
A case number such as 26-1-00028-09 follows a year, category, sequence, and court-code pattern seen on public Douglas County calendars. Treat it as a search clue, not an official category manual.
Douglas County Zoom Court Dates
Per the Douglas County Superior Court page, proceedings generally happen by Zoom. An in-person appearance is required in some cases. Three Zoom rooms are listed. A public link does not make attendance optional. It also cannot tell you which room fits every case. Match the calendar category to the court's current link. Then confirm the appearance mode.
Remote access never changes the effect of a notice or order. A party told to appear in person should not switch to Zoom. A general court page is not enough. A calendar row listing remote details can also be replaced by a later instruction. When the mode is unclear, ask the Court Administrator, the Clerk, or counsel.
Note: Douglas County court staff can confirm procedure and setting details. They cannot provide legal advice about what action to take.
Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations
A continued or reset Douglas County hearing simply lands on a new date. The case stays open. Entries such as status conference, readiness, review, pass, and special set all appear on the docket. Each can mean the matter is still moving. Scan the event list from oldest to newest. Then let the most recent order or upcoming hearing tell you where things stand.
Calendars and docket entries can disagree. A canceled matter may vanish from the newest calendar. An older PDF you saved may still list the old date, and the opposite happens when a new setting is entered after the PDF cutoff. For Superior Court hearings, check Odyssey. For limited-jurisdiction dates, use Washington Courts; then pull the county PDF. Confirm any change with the court directly. One more caution: a hearing labeled "dismissal" is only a scheduled event. Until a signed docket entry actually dismisses the case, nothing has been decided.
Douglas Calendar Versus Docket Event
A calendar and a docket answer different questions. The Douglas County calendar PDF gathers the matters court staff expect to hear during a set block. A docket, or Register of Actions, tracks one case from start to finish: filings, orders, hearings, and every other event in order. The Search Hearings tool in Odyssey links the two views. It is public case information, though, not the certified court file.
| Source | Best use | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| County calendar PDF | Check a weekday block, hearing label, officer, and notes | Post-cutoff changes may be absent |
| Odyssey hearing record | Find Superior Court events by case, party, date, or courtroom | Public data may not include document images |
| Washington Courts | Find District and municipal dates | Reference data can lag or be incomplete |
| Signed order or clerk | Confirm the controlling setting | Requires the correct court and case identifiers |
Need more than a calendar glance? Use the Douglas County case lookup to search by name or cause number, then return to the current calendar and compare the next event.
Douglas County Setting Terms
Local setting labels show the stage of a Douglas County case. Treat them as scheduling language, not rulings, unless the docket also records an order or disposition.
- Prelim
- A preliminary criminal appearance that may address probable cause, release, or the next step.
- L&M
- Law and motion, a calendar for motions, show-cause matters, and related civil or family requests.
- Omnibus
- A Washington criminal pretrial stage for discovery, readiness, and case management.
- Readiness
- A setting used to assess whether the case is ready for trial or another stage.
- Special set
- A matter assigned a specific calendar time outside a routine block.
A "continued" entry means the event moved to a new time. A "review" setting means the court plans to look at the case again. When shorthand on a Douglas County docket is unclear, ask the Douglas County Clerk.
If You Miss a Court Setting
Missed a Douglas County court date? Act fast. Call your attorney first if you have one. Then phone the clerk for the court named on the notice. Ask whether the docket now shows a new setting, a failure-to-appear entry, or a warrant. Court staff will tell you what the case record displays and walk you through filing procedure. But they cannot advise you on a legal choice.
Missed a setting? A missed appearance can lead to a failure-to-appear entry, a bench warrant, or other court action.
Call the correct Douglas County court promptly and use the full cause number so staff can locate the current docket.
Seek advice from a licensed lawyer before appearing if a warrant or other urgent order may be involved.
Do not treat the old PDF as proof a hearing was canceled. Pull the latest case event and confirm directly with the court. Restricted juvenile, sealed, and some family matters hide full public detail, so the court of record remains the proper source.
